Sun. 9/28/2025: Breathe Read Write and Potluck – Sunset at Brighton Beach, with Lisa Freedman, 4:30-7pm

Date and Time: Sunday, September 28, 4:30 – 7:00pm Meeting Location: East end of Brighton Beach, Brighton 15th Street Riegelman Boardwalk, Brooklyn, NY 11235. Equinox season is about balance. Light and dark. Let go of summer and embrace fall with ocean time, meditation, writing, potluck, and friends. Join us on Sunday, September 28, from 4:30 pm until 7 pm or so. Here’s how our time will flow: Lisa & Lin guide all the activities. You can kick back and let your creativity flow. NOTE: It can get chilly on the beach, so please bring layers. Be sure to register if you want to join us. This way, we can send you detailed instructions to our spot on the beach, and we can get in touch with you if the weather is bad and we have to re-schedule. Sat. Mar. 14, 2020: Stuyvesant Square Park Volunteering, Nature Meditation and Writing

Did you know that increased sunlight triggers birdsongs? As the days get longer and life wakes up from the winter slumber, it’s time to go outdoors and enjoy the aliveness of  Earth’s renewal.  Join us for our pre-Equinox celebration  with a day of park volunteering, nature practices, poetry, and free-writing. Come at any time between 9:30am-1pm to volunteer and celebrate this local park by helping with gardening and maintenance. Come see early spring blooms and learn about composting. No gardening experience needed and there will be light refreshments provided by the Stuyvesant Park Neighborhood Association (SPNA). After volunteering, you can join the Breathe.Read.Write workshop from 1-3pm. Meditate and Write in the Grove: June to October, 2017 (Monthly)

Register Here Starting June 11, join Brooklyn Greenway Initiative as we meditate and free write in the beautiful outdoor space of the Naval Cemetery Landscape, co-sponsored by Breathe Read Write and Being in the Wild. Session 1 on Sunday morning, June 11, 9:30 – 11:30am: Welcome summer, season of growth and abundance. Sessions 2-4 on the first Thursday evening of July (7/6), August (8/3), and Sept. (9/7), 6:30 – 8pm: Tune in to the gifts and cycles of this ground and the beings that live here, such as trees, native wildflowers (Brown Eyed Susans, Asters, etc.), bees, birds, and more. Session 5 on Sunday morning October 1, 9:30 – 11:30am: Thank summer and welcome fall, season of harvest and completion. This park honors the past and builds toward a greener, more contemplative future. We can all participate by gathering to meditate and offer our own creativity. These sessions are suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced meditators or writers.
