2025, Asian Diaspora Community, Program

Sun. 2/2/2025: Lunar New Year Sit and Potluck for the AAPI Community, 10am-12:30pm

Date: 10am to 12:30pm, on Sunday, February 2, 2025

Location: New York Insight Meditation Center, 115 W 29th Street, 12th Floor (between 6th & 7th Avenue).

Come join in-person the joyous occasion of the Lunar New Year with the AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islanders) community.

Lunar New Year, or the Spring Festival, is widely celebrated across Asia and typically spans 15 days. In 2025, we welcome the Year of the Wood Snake, beginning on January 29th. If you identify as AAPI and celebrate the Lunar New Year, we invite you to join us for a gathering to set intentions for 2025 and share your family traditions. A skilled calligrapher will also be present to demonstrate the art of calligraphy and share how this practice is traditionally tied to meditation in Asia.

We would like to use this occasion to honor ancestry and heritage and explore what this holiday means to each of us.

We will have a sit and group sharing from 10:00am-11:30am and a vegetarian potluck from 11:30am-12:30pm. Please bring a dish that you would like to share.

The gathering will be offered through New York Insight Meditation Center.
